The Joyful Process

We offer a variety of design-build services.

Whether Joy Custom Design/Build builds your new house or renovates the one you have, we’ll provide an experienced team that includes a project manager, design coordinator, lending representative and architect. From the start, you’ll work closely with us to create your plans, as well as your customized finishes, lighting, appliances and other high-end products for both the exterior and interior. Our ultimate goal is to guarantee your project runs smoothly.

Consultation

The initial meeting will include a consultation with John Joy. During our meeting, we’ll discuss your project and budget. If you have time, we’ll take you on a tour of our homes to showcase similar projects.

Design

During this step, you’ll work closely with John Joy and our designer, architect and project manager. Once the exterior and floor plan have been created and approved, we’ll move into the interior part of the home. You’ll make color choices and start deciding on finishes and various products. Our team will make recommendations based on your style and requests. The scope of work and estimate can be generated after the design phase.

Permitting/Preparation

Once the design has been approved, we’ll start taking care of some formalities. First, we’ll get the necessary permits required and prepare for the construction phase. You’ll also pick out any products that still need to be chosen, such as flooring, lighting and trim. Some products will be custom made by Joy Custom Design/Build and others will be available through subcontractors. If you’d like, John Joy will accompany you to stores and showrooms to offer guidance.

Construction

Sometimes it will literally be groundbreaking and at other times, it will be moving walls and removing appliances. Depending on whether you’re remodeling or building a brand new house, the time period on the construction phase varies. You may or may not be living in your home during this stage. In either case, we’ll keep you informed regularly regarding the progress of completion.

Finishing

Once the construction is complete, the design team takes over and puts on the finishing touches. The paint gets applied, the lighting gets adjusted, and all the accessories as well as the rest of the customization takes place. John Joy and the whole team is involved in this step very closely to make sure everything is perfect.

Completion

We’ll do a walk-through with you and make sure you’re completely satisfied. Then, it’s time to enjoy your new home or remodel.
